Prior to the 2nd of October, 2015, Diezani Alison-Madueke was famous for the right reasons – as Nigeria’s first female Minister of Petroleum Resources, and the first female President of OPEC – she was a role model for the female gender. But the tides have changed; following her arrest in the UK, the woman once described as Nigeria’s most powerful woman, and one of the people changing the face of Africa has now been cast as a disgrace to Nigeria and women. Charged with siphoning about £13 billion, the former minister currently face charges of corruption and theft. As usual, Nigerians are celebrating her arrest, whilst creating the most interesting contents on social media.

From plain tweets, to photos, and memes, here are 30 reactions to the arrest of Diezani Alison-Madueke, aka Diezanionaire.

When Nigerians first heard the news …

She must not come back!

£13 billion? Even the devil isn’t that rich.

Yes, that October 1st memo … How could she not have gotten it?

Some Nigerians were sympathetic … But how do you raise funds for the fund holder?

She’s too pretty to be a thief, just look at her.

That sum of money will buy the world’s best football players. True story. https://twitter.com/BeatbyChordLess/status/651345847561682944 Well, @didiYargata, maybe she intends to … https://twitter.com/didiYargata/status/651793203130183682 No more Baba slow slow, it is now Baba Buhari, the witch hunter.

Own a country? Emeka is a genius; why didn’t Diezani think of this?

She could follow the path of Ex Bayelsa’s governor Diepreye Alameighseya – Nigeria’s first political drag queen

https://twitter.com/TIMONIUM17/status/651779955941093376 But why will the former president Goodluck Jonathan have a high blood pressure over this?

Ever read the scripture that says, “money answereth all things?” This Nigerian has a whole list, or rather, a seven point agenda. https://twitter.com/Chydee/status/651134686412976128 Loyal to who?

Ebuka how can you be so mean? Kirikiri is hell on earth.

Who knew there was a school for looting? But who were her school mates?

Is this man a true citizen of this country? If we aren’t that rich, why are we the giants of Africa? Mr Chidi, £13 billion pounds is just shawarma money for our politicians.

N26,000? Wow! That is more than the country’s minimum wage.

Question: Who is Floyd Mayweather? Answer: Diezani’s houseboy. https://twitter.com/petertoyomotayo/status/651779132364337152

Alhaji Dangote, Nigerians still love you, but you have been ousted by Queen Diezani

Really? How much did she steal then?

Some Nigerians don’t care, as long as they get a share of the loot.

Mr Olumide, she did a good job of hiding it till she moved to buy Hyde Park.

LOL! Only those who know this song – If there’s any justice by Lemar – will understand.

And if you don’t fully grasp the magnitude of Diezani’s loot by now, Google is always there to help.
