Nigerian A-list musician, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as Tuface or 2baba, has donated $11,000 in support of the United Nations humanitarian efforts in northeastern Nigeria. The activities of the Islamic jihadist group, Boko Haram, which have been concentrated in the northeastern part of the country for the past five years, have seen thousands of people dead, and millions displaced.

According to a statement by the United Nations Humanitarian Forum, the donation will not just be for displaced persons in Nigeria, but also across Africa. The iconic musician also promised to hold a charity concert in June to help raise more funds. The United Nations High Commission for Refugee also excitedly confirmed that they were partnering with the musician to bring relief to displaced persons in Nigeria.

Tuface’s donation comes after the organisation recently decried the situation of IDPs in northern Nigerian. The organisation stated that they were in urgent need of fund to help IDP’s. Last week, international donors pledged $163 million to help the organisation over the next three years.

In a meeting in Oslo, Norway, the agency noted that there was an urgent need to get supplies to over 2.8 million IDPs by June in order to avert a predicted famine in the Lake Chad region which comprises north-eastern Nigeria, northern Cameroon, western Chad, and south-eastern Niger.

The ace musician is coming out for the second time in two months to provide help and a possible way out of the current economic challenges facing the country. His first attempt was a scheduled peaceful protest to bring the plight of Nigerians to the government; the protest was called off barely 24 hours to the day.
