United Kingdom flag carrier, British Airways (BA), has said it will expand its schedule and boost capacity by introducing a larger airplane for its London-Nairobi and London-Accra routes at the end of this month, as it looks to increase its market share in Kenya and Ghana.

Flight schedules between London-Accra will also increase from seven to 10 times a week while the London-Nairobi schedule will be on a daily basis after the airline replaces its current Boeing 777 with a Boeing 747-400 increasing its passengers’ capacity from 299 to 345.

BA will up flights to Entebbe, a major town in Uganda, from three times a week to four after it announced it was pulling out from the London – Dar es Salaam route.

According to the newly appointed commercial manager for East and Southern Africa, Edward Frost, the increase in passenger capacity and schedule gives customers a wide range of choices.

“We adjust schedules and capacity to reflect demand and this is another example of just that. The new schedule and capacity increases provide customers with more choice and better connections.”

The airline has seen the need to invest more in African markets as it recently increased capacity in Johannesburg, South Africa and plans on increasing the daily schedule to Cape Town in May.
