Folake Soetan is an aspiring development consultant with a drive for improving health systems and making healthcare accessible to all. She has a B.Sc. in Biology from the University of Oregon and an M.Sc. in Global Health and Development from University College London. In 2008, she worked at the National Institutes of Health, USA and on returning to Nigeria in 2009, she spent two years coordinating corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities, public relations and media projects for two leading healthcare companies. Folake assisted with the development of the ‘Doctors on Air’ medical radio programme and spearheaded the annual ‘Doctors on Air’ Medical Mission, which provides free medical services to underprivileged populations in Lagos. She writes regularly about African women leaders and manages the affairs of Amplio Academy, a human capacity development start-up that provides training in public speaking, customer service and emotional intelligence.
