The CEO of Ventures Africa, Uzodinma Iweala, will on Wednesday, 21st of September 2016 speak at the final plenary session of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI). Uzodinma will be moderating the theme “Imagine all the people”. This session will explore the nature and science of empathy and imagine how each of us can apply it to our own work and lives.

Since 2005, the CGI community has worked together to change the landscape of modern philanthropy, making more than 3,600 Commitments to Action that are improving the lives of more than 435 million people around the world. Today, the Annual Meeting will conclude and celebrate the legacy of turning ideas into action and the continued dedication of CGI members to overcoming shared global challenges.

 The following topics will be discussed in the plenary sessions today:

  • Turning Landfills into Goldmines: Can We Make the Circular Economy a Reality? This will explore how circular economies could add another $1 trillion a year for the global economy is as few as 10 years.
  • Bridging the Health Funding Gap
  • New and innovative sources of health care financing
  • Bridging the digital divide of today and harnessing the potential of connectivity to impact our societies, environmental, and economies of tomorrow

The meeting will close with a speech from President Bill Clinton on the ways CGI has changed the landscape of philanthropy over the past 11 years.
