The African Development Bank AfDB has donated health equipment worth $290,000 to the federal government of Nigeria. The donation is in a bid to support and try to address the current health challenges being faced by the country. The equipment was procured by the World Health Organization (WHO) using funds from AfDB, and included two ambulances 30 Bajaj motorcycles, 34 safety boxes among others things.
The equipment was presented to the Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole in Abuja.  On presenting the equipment, the country director, WHO, Dr.Rui Gama Vaz said that the equipment was initially to curtail the spread of Ebola epidemic, but since Nigeria has succeeded in that regard, it could be used to address other epidemics.The Country Director of AfDB, Ousmane Dore, applauded the Nigerian government on the way and manner it handled the Ebola epidemic. He said the rapid response gave assurance to the international community, that the government was serious and determined to fight Ebola.Prof.Adewole said that the equipment would help Nigeria to prepare against any eventuality that may occur.
