Sasol on Monday said André de Ruyter, the senior group executive of global chemicals and North American operations, had quit his position to join an unidentified firm also listed on the Johannesburg bourse.

JSE-listed petrochemicals giant said the resignation will take effect from the end of next month.

Consequently, Fleetwood Grobler, currently MD of Sasol Olefins and Surfactants operations, was promoted to the position of group executive to replace de Ruyter from 1 December, this year.

During his 29 years at Sasol, Grobler gained business experience in technical research and capital project management.

David Constable, the CEO of Sasol, said he would like to wish de Ruyter all the best as he started an exciting chapter in his career.

Meanwhile, Ruyters’ resignation follows that of Christian Ramon, the highflying CFO.

Ramon was appointed in 2006 and since then she has been an important member of the executive committee and the board at the company.

She was in involved with the launch of the company’s employee share scheme, Sasol Inzalo Black Economic Empowerment, transaction in 2008.

This also comes after chair Hixonia Nyasulu, last month said  she will leave the JSE-listed petrochemicals giant in November this year.
