The Bloomberg Media Initiative Africa which was launched by Michael Bloomberg, the founder of Bloomberg LP, in February 2014, is set to host the very first Bloomberg Africa Business Media Innovators Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, on the 9th of November, 2015. The summit will be hosted by CEO, Bloomberg Media, Justin Smith and Co-Founder, Bloomberg News and Editor Emeritus, Matthew Winkler.

The Bloomberg Media Initiative Africa was established for the purpose of building and improving media capacity so as to advance transparency, accountability and good governance across the continent. It was also set up to provide programs and mid-career fellowships, increasing the number of highly-trained business and financial journalists within the continent. The initiative will also organise pan-African forums which should help examine worldwide media practices and support research to stimulate media innovations.

In addition to the aforementioned goals, the Bloomberg Africa Business Media Innovators 2015 Summit has been launched to bring several leaders in the global business space together, including entrepreneurs, investors, media owners and senior editors. The overall intention is to identify strategies to help boost the development of competitive media and financial reporting in Africa and the three-day summit promises to be a highly interactive gathering, involving town hall interviews and round-table discussions.
