The president of Angola, Jose Eduardo dos Santos, has appointed Jose Pedro de Morais as the country’s new Central Bank Governor following a management reshuffle. He will take over from Jose de Lima Massano according to official news agency Angop.

Jose Pedro de Morais is an Angolan Politician who served as Minister of Finance from 2002 to 2008. He also served as the Director, Economic affairs, Ministry of external relations in 1987. Morais has  also held  international positions such as Executive Director, International Monetary Fund, 1996 and Coordinator, European Fund for Development, in 1993.

The outgoing Angolan governor, Massano, was appointed in 2010. His appointment was hinged on his vast experience in the financial sector; he was formerly the chief executive of Banco Africano de Investimentos (BAI), Angola’s biggest private-sector bank. The reason for his dismissal remains undisclosed.
