Global software leader, Microsoft on Thursday announced the global release of Windows 8.1, a feature-rich update of its popular Windows 8 operating system.

Since Thursday last week, the free update was made available for download on the online Windows Storeto for consumers with a Windows 8 device in more than 230 markets and 37 languages.

Windows 8.1 have also been made available on new devices and as boxed software at retail locations around the world.

“With Windows 8, we introduced an era of highly mobile, touch-enabled, and always-connected computing,” said Awawu Olumide-Sojinrin, Acting Country Manager, Microsoft Nigeria.

“Windows 8.1 evolves this vision and brings together everything people do across all their devices whether at home, at work or on the go,” he added.

Founded in 1975, Microsoft (Nasdaq “MSFT”) is the worldwide leader in software, services and solutions that help people and businesses realize their full potential.
