Transforming Lives Awards is a new award programme that gives organisations — social enterprise and non-profit Organizations — the chance to be awarded up to 100,000 USD in funding for their social development goals (SDG8) work aimed at transforming lives.
Philanthropy University and Alquity jointly seek to identify and support exceptional Organizations driving sustainable livelihood programmes in Asia, Africa and Latin America. The Awards totalling 600,000 USD in funding will be given to these local Organizations to invest in their future and future of those they serve.
The Transforming Lives Awards is a movement to find out and support promising, locally-led Organizations that are working to bring people out of poverty and build a brighter future for all.
Award winners will receive between 25,000 and 100,000 USD in funding offering new paths to capital, profile and expert advice. The pre-application for the award ends soon; To Apply, Organizations from eligible countries are encouraged to apply before the deadline October 31 2018. There will be at least one award given in each region, i.e. Africa, Asia, and Latin America and winners will be announced at a global awards event in 2019 after in-depth assessment and due diligence processes.
Winning organizations will demonstrate a pathway to a sustainable funding model, even if their current model requires donor funding. Awards will fall into three categories:
Small and Medium Enterprise and Social Entrepreneurs- This is for enterprises employing sustainable business models to address social or environmental challenges or visionary start-ups with a viable and scalable business plan
Non-Profit High Impact-This is for organizations that can demonstrate strong management practices and measurably strong results through programs designed to support the economic empowerment of their communities.
Non-profit High Potential- This is for organizations that can demonstrate potential to scale livelihoods focused programs.
Philanthropy University is a free online learning platform that provides locally-led organizations in the Global South with access to practical courses, knowledge-share communities and funding opportunities. With this tailored support, local organizations can become more effective in their work to help solve some of the world’s most pressing social issues and save even more lives.
