At the recently concluded board meeting at one of the leading non-bank, financial service firms in Nigeria, Asset & Resource Management Company Ltd (ARM), the Chairman of the company, Felix Ohiwerei, announced the appointment of Jumoke Ogundare as the new CEO/MD. This appointment makes her the first female CEO of the company. Her appointment comes after the resignation of the former CEO, Deji Alli, who had been the MD/CEO of the company since its inception in 2014.

Following her appointment as the new CEO/MD, Sadiq Mohammed will become the Deputy Group CEO.

Here are four things you need to know about the newly appointed CEO of ARM:

Jumoke Ogundare obtained her first degree in Economics from the University of Jos, and proceeded to Cardiff Business School in Wales where she earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration. She is a graduate of the Program for Management Development (PMD) at the Harvard Business School.

She has more than 25 years experience in Credit and Marketing, having worked with Prime Merchant Bank Limited, International Merchant Bank (IMB) and Citadel Savings and Loans.

Prior to her appointment, she was the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of ARM Company Limited. She was in charge of the company’s asset management business, which covers investment management, business development and research. She was also overseeing the ARM Discovery Fund, ARM Trustees, ARM Aggressive Growth Fund and ARM mutual funds.

She was a member of the Finance & General Purpose Committee, member of the Governance and Remuneration Committee, member of the Board Audit & Risk Management Committee, member of the Statutory Audit Committee of ARM Company Limited. She is also the director of ARM Life Plc.
