On Wednesday, the Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazzau disclosed that the Federal Government has granted Nigerian citizenship to 335 foreigners, during a meeting with the Federal Executive council presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari. According to Dambazzau, 245 persons were granted citizenship by naturalisation while 90 were granted citizenship by registration.

According to Dambazzau the committee comprising representatives of the Department of State Services, the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs considered the applications based on the requirements that were stated in Sections 26 and 27 of the nation’s constitution.

“Those who met the requirement, the advisory council recommended them and sent their names to the council for approval. So, today, FEC approved the recommendations of those who applied, 335 of them; 245 by naturalisation and 90 by registration,” he said.
