One of the leading pan-African mobile banking and payment services company, eTranzact has partnered with the Nigerian Military to launch a card known as the Military Pension Card. The launch took place on Tuesday at the Ministerial press briefing for the 2017 Armed Forces Remembrance Day. The card is set to offer identification and verification to all members of the Nigerian armed forces. It will also serve as a reward card for the support of Nigeria’s courageous ex-service men. This is the first of its kind by any payment service company in the country.

The card is set to offer identification and verification to all members of the Nigerian armed forces. It will also serve as a reward card for the support of Nigeria’s courageous ex-service men. This is the first of its kind by any payment service company in the country.

“We hope that this pension card project not only solves identification and verification issues for the military but also gives the private sector an opportunity to offer special rewards and discounts,” said Valentine Obi, Founder, and CEO, eTranzact International PLC.

The 2016 Global Firepower index ranks Nigeria as the fourth most powerful military in Africa. Yet the Nigerian military is not rewarded properly for their courageous effort.

In most western countries, such as in Canada and the United States of America, serving and ex-members of the armed forces are given reward cards which offer a variety of discounts for their sacrifice and dedication. This is also an instrument that will also connect the ex-servicemen to the society.

What is the real benefit of this card to the members of the Nigerian Armed forces?

According to eTranzact, the card offers several benefits to its recipients. Apart from being a pension card it can be linked to a bank account, attached to a mobile money wallet or operated as a stand-alone reloadable card. The card offers a 5 percent discount on airtime top up, discounts on airline tickets and restaurant discounts.

The card can be used to perform financial transactions at any ATM or POS. It can also be used for web transactions.
