The Group Managing Director/CEO of Diamond Bank Plc, Dr. Alex Otti, has called for investment in the Nigeria’s aviation sector as a means of boosting the country’s economy.

Otti made the call at the just concluded Aviation Investment Forum organized by Nigeria’s Aviation Ministry to showcase opportunities for stakeholder buy-in in the sector.

“Investment in aviation is a gateway into foreign investments particularly as it is the major entrance route of investors,” Otti said.

According to him, ” the opportunities in the sector are incredible such as serving as a maintenance hub for other countries in Africa, building new airports and downstream services in all the airports.”

Lately, Nigeria’s aviation sector has witnessed a couple air mishaps and has come under heavy criticism from experts and air passengers.  However, the country’s government has promised to improve and upgrade operations and infrastructure in the aviation industry.

In support of the industry, Diamond Bank financed the acquisition of eight aircrafts for an airline in Nigeria and recently financed the acquisition of another five for a relatively young airline, the CEO explained.
