The Chairman, Dangote Group of Companies, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, is setting up a $100 million vehicle assembly plant in Lagos as part of his efforts toward boosting foreign exchange and job creation in the country. In a statement made by Anthony Chiejina, the Chief Corporate Communication Officer, Dangote Group, said that the group owned about 60 percent stake in the assembly plant while SINOTRUK holds 40 percent, in a partnership that was formed in 2014.

Chiejina said Aliko Dangote believes that the current economic challenges would make Nigeria stronger if approached positively. “Alhaji Aliko still believes that Nigeria is one of the best places in the world to do business,” he said. Adding that there would be room for the expansion of the project in future to meet the national truck demand and possibly export to neighbouring countries to generate foreign exchange for the nation.
