Multinational tax and legal company, Andersen Global, has expanded into Senegal through a partnership with Cabex, a counterpart firm in the country. With this deal, Senegal becomes the 13th African nation where Andersen has a member or collaborating firm offering legal services.

Located in Dakar, Cabex is one of Senegal’s oldest legal and tax consulting firms. For nearly thirty years, it has been offering services to local and foreign clients from the public and para-public sectors on matters relating to national and international issues.

According to Papa Alassane Ndir, Partner and General Manager at Cabex, collaborating with Andersen Global will expand the company’s international scope and transborder capabilities, while giving it additional opportunities to expand into new markets.

“Henceforth, we are going to collaborate with many colleagues and experts from around the world and will be in a position to provide our clients with more in-depth expertise,” Alassane added.

On his part, Cherif Diaite, Partner and Technical Manager at Cabex, indicated that the firm needs to operate in a continually evolving global environment due to the challenge at the international level. Thus, the scope of Andersen Global’s association of member and collaborating firms is a considerable asset in providing seamless service to clients across the globe.

For Andersen Global, Cabex represents a very good fit in a key market in the African region, considering a large part of the local company’s clients have international operations, Andersen Global Chairman’s and Andersen Tax LLC CEO, Mark Vorsatz revealed.

Vorsatz said further on Cabex, “They provide best-in-class client service, and, as a result, Cabex has an impressive reputation throughout the country … Additionally, Papa Alassane has developed sound working relations with several partners within Andersen Global, based on shared values.”

Entry into Ghana

In Ghana, Andersen Global signed a collaboration agreement with Sam Okudzeto & Associates, one of the largest law firms in the West African country. For the past 48 years, the firm – located in Accra – has provided legal advice and guidance in the corporate and commercial areas.

Some of its area of expertise include patents and trademarks, mergers and acquisition, tax advisory, corporate banking, international trade and investment, debt recovery, mining and mineral law, industrial and labor, aviation, maritime law, petroleum oil and gas, and intellectual property.

“There is so much opportunity for growth in Ghana and throughout Africa,” Sam Okudzeto & Associates’ Founder, Sam Okudzeto, said. “I’m confident that our collaboration with Andersen Global will take us to the next level and broaden our abilities in the region. We will be able to continue providing best-in-class services in the market and bring a seamless association of experts throughout the world to an expanded base of clients.”

According to Vorsatz, Sam and his team bring additional depth and breadth to Andersen’s capabilities in Africa. Thus, adding a “sought-after firm” like Sam Okudzeto & Associates is not only a logical extension for Andersen Global, but it broadens its offering in the region and is a key part of its Africa strategy.

Rapid expansion in two years on the continent

Andersen Global’s expansion into both West African countries coincides with its two-year anniversary in Nigeria and Africa. In July 2017, the international consulting firm debuted in the continent when Andersen Tax launched in Lagos and Abuja in Nigeria.

Since its arrival in Nigeria, Andersen Tax LP has been engaged in “many landmark transactions, achieving significant tax benefits for its clients, getting the tax authorities to agree with views on tax benefits accruable to clients, putting the investment structures together to help render the best returns to all stakeholders,” Mondaq reports.

In two years, Andersen Global’s sub-Saharan presence has grown from two offices in Nigeria to 13 countries from South Africa to Côte d’Ivoire. At the end of this year, Andersen Global will add a presence in as many as four other countries on the continent. The international association is on track to have a presence in close to 30 countries in Africa by the end of 2020.

Andersen Global is an international association of legally separate, independent member firms comprised of tax and legal professionals around the world. Established in 2013 by U.S. member firm Andersen Tax LLC, Andersen Global now has more than 4,500 professionals worldwide and a presence in over 144 locations through its member firms and collaborating firms.
