South African international Stephen Pienaar has expressed delight after he completed his movde back to English Premier League side Everton F.C for a reported £4.5 million ($7 million) on a four year deal.
Pienaar joined Tottemham F.C last season for £3 million ($4.8 million) but could not hold down a starting shirt in former Spurs manager Harry Rednapp’s team. The South African was forced to spend a loan deal from January to May at Goodison Park.
With Everton favourite Tim Cahill leaving the Tofees to join MLS side New York Red Bulls, Piennar’s return to join the Merseyside team was given the all clear and the former Borussia Dortmund player says he is happy with his return.
Speaking to Everton’s website, Pienaar said: “I am happy to be here. It took a few weeks to sort out but I am delighted to be back and excited to play for Everton.
“There was no doubt in my mind that I would be back here. At the end of the season I told the manager how I felt and I am happy now it is all done.”
Even though Pienaar’s return represents a £1.5 million ($2.3 million) loss on paper, Everton Manager Moyes is happy with the deal having sold the midfielder with a year left in his contract and re-signed the South African for another four years.
Pienaar scored 4 goals in 14 games on his last loan spell to help Everton to a respectable seventh place finish last season. He had joined the Tofees on loan way back in 2007 from current German Champions, Borussia Dortmund.
In a related development, latest reports suggests Nigerian captain Joseph Yobo will soon seal his deal to Turkish side, Fenerbahce. Turkish-football.com reports a fee of 2.5 million Euros ($3 million) has been agreed between Everton and Fenerbahce as Yobo spent the last season on loan with the Turkish side.
Meanwhile, European Champions Chelsea are reportedly preparing a final £7.5 million ($12 million) bid for Wigan and Nigerian winger, Victor Moses.
British tabloid, The Daily Mail, reports that The Blues will make the final offer after having 3 bids turned down by Wigan chairman Dave Whelan who is holding out for £10 million ($15 million).
Moses has just one year left in his contract but Wigan would rather keep the Nigerian as they are still due some form of compensation even if he leaves next season as he is still under the age of 24. More so, Moses’ former club, Crystal Palace are due 20 percent of any transfer fee.
Chelsea are keen to add Moses to their ranks as manager Roberto Di Matteo plans a revamp of the team having added Eden Hadard, Marko Marin and Oscar this summer.
