In the afternoon yesterday, the Prince Ebeano supermarket located along Admiralty Way, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, was engulfed in fire. The shopping outlet, which was up in flames for several hours, offered a wide variety of household products, groceries, clothes and cosmetics. More surprising is that the supermarket is one of three locations to have been razed by fire in the same day.

Reportedly, there was a fire incident at No 171 Orodu Street and No 1 Freedom Street, Ajegunle in the Ajeromi/Ifelodun Local Government Area where two buildings were destroyed. According to eye witnesses, the inferno may have been caused by a black-market fuel dealer who came in contact with a welder.

The Oko Oba plank market in the Ebute Metta area of Lagos was also razed down. A fire which nearly spread to Makoko, a community characterized by stilt houses located along the banks of the Lagos Lagoon.

See for yourself the aftermath which brings about the realization of just how much may have been lost in the fire at the popular Lagos supermarket.

The fire service finally got there..but was it too late?
