Remember a scene from the romantic comedy film, Sex and the City 2, where the Emirati women take off their abayas and veils to reveal that they are wearing the spring collection from Louis Vuitton? Well that was just the tip of the iceberg in showing how fashionable Arab shoppers can be. Dolce and Gabbana just launched a collection of abaya designs for Muslim style enthusiasts both in the Middle East and other parts of the world.

The collection includes both hijabs, used for covering the head, and full length garments known as abayas. The pieces are made from sheer georgette and satin weave charmeuse fabrics including copious lace details along the hems,” noted Style.com/Arabia. They also have a touch of Dolce & Gabbana’s sumptuous Italian signatures.

Last summer Stefano Gabbana mentioned a design plan with Domenico Dolce for Muslim shoppers .”I’m really fascinated with the Middle East and we’ve just completed a prêt-a-porter collection of abayas and sheylas”, Gabbana told the National in July. “Pieces have some lace, embroidery and some prints – but not too much. They will be available in the UAE this October.”

Debuted exclusively on Style.com/Arabia on Sunday, here are some of our favorite images from Dolce and Gabbana’s latest Arab collection.
