They are planning a series of competition spread across countries within Central and West Africa. Their goal: raise funds to embark on a European professional expedition.

Achieving a dream begins from acting on it, and that is what these group of African wrestlers have set out to do. Going by the name Hard Home Hard (Afrikain Destructors), they are a group of wrestlers coming from the Ivory Coast, Congo Kinshasa, Cameroon and Gambia. They will be organizing a series of wrestling competitions between themselves and other lovers of the combat sport to raise money for a European expedition.

They are currently in Cameroon with a plan to deliver exhibition matches in the political capital Yaoundé. Stéphane Nsibuala, who is the leader of the group says, “We want to show to Africans that wrestling is not just violence but primarily a show and a great family of sport. That is why we need to be supported.”

For now, they are seeking sponsorships by selling tickets to each show. “I wish authorities and public will support the initiative,” says Timothy Nsangou, a member of the Cameroonian camp who is the only fan of legendary wrestler Super Makia. A ticket is sold for €40.

The funds realized from their African tour will be managed by the wife of Stevee “Hulk” Vanson, the leader of the Gambian group. She is also a wrestler.

Between April and May this year, the group of wrestlers will visit Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Congo Kinshasa and Tanzania. They hope to raise more than $100,000 which will be used to buy professional equipment and fund their trip to Belgium. “We will get trained [along] with other professionals. We have the ambition to become like Hulk Hogan, John Cena, Batista and Triple H,” said Affi Gbedon, one of the two Ivorians of the group. “This is achievable.”
