Different factors drive people to embrace the various opportunities springing up in Africa. In a recent report titled, “Africa: Where everyone wants to be an entrepreneur,” Russell Hotten, BBC Business reporter, tells the stories of three different entrepreneurs based in Nigeria, South Africa and Kenya.

All the entrepreneurs, despite sharing the challenges of starting up a business and taking it to the next level, admitted that the continent has huge opportunities that needs to be explored more.

In the words of the South Africa-based entrepreneur, Nicholas Maweni, there is a huge entrepreneurial culture. It is what is driving these countries…There are lots of Profits to be made in this continent.

Anyone starting a business in Africa must weigh up four ‘Ps’. Assessing Political stability is vital. “One must also be Patient, because Africa is not for the faint-hearted,” he said.
