On Tuesday, 30th May 2017, Nigeria’s acting president, Yemi Osinbajo inaugurated the Nigerian Industrial Policy and Competitiveness Advisory Council at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The council, which is made up of 36 members, will spearhead the industrial agenda that will speed up Nigeria’s industrialisation bid and the contribution of manufacturing to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 250 percent over a five-year period.

Osinbajo will chair the 36-member council comprising of representatives of the public and private sectors as well as a seven-member Technical Committee.
