Indian leading IT services multinational, Tata Consultancy Service (TCS) plans to ground its Moroccan operations following its inability to secure a steady stream of client base.

“We had looked at Morocco as a near shore centre for French speaking European countries and decided to set up a unit here but we could not get enough outsourcing volumes from European and Local clients,” Rajesh Gopinathan, Chief Financial Officer of City based TCS said to BusinessLine recently.

TCS Morocco is part Tata Group, India’s largest Industrial conglomerate. The IT multinational has more than 300,000 world trained consultants in 46 countries, with consolidated revenue reaching $13.4 billion in March this year.

According to reports, sourcing a French speaking team has proved a major drawback for a successful local penetration. Moroccan enterprises also remain reluctant to prospect of working with a Foreign Service provider.
