The eight years David Mark was the Senate President were probably the biggest years professional golf will ever witness in the history of golf in Nigeria. During that period, golf professionals in the country were having it so easy. In one Glo tourney alone, a player won N20 million. This has never happened in history of the game in Nigeria. Mark introduced more tourneys for the Pros. Even then Governor of Benue, Gabriel Suswam was not into golf, but Mark convinced him to sponsor a yearly Governor’s Cup worth N10 million. Suswam kept faith for four years. Such was the love Mark had for the professionals. Since Mark left office, the golf pros have only played in two tournaments worth N5 million each.
