Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) a state run company, announced a US$1.2 billion loss in its 2015 operations. The corporation’s monthly financial and operation report, showed that  NNPC earned gross revenue of $10.3 billion, while it recorded expenses of $11.1 billion during the period. It further revealed that its Corporate Service Unit and the three refineries, the Pipelines and Product Marketing Company (PPMC), one of NNPC’s subsidiaries and the National Engineering Technical Company (NETCO) also posted losses. Only the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) and the Nigerian Gas Company (NGC) recorded profits.
Here are the stats that were in the report-: NNPC lifted 245 million barrels of crude oil on behalf of the Federal Government, out of a total of 706 million barrels of crude oil fiscalised between January and November, 2015. A total of 254 billion cubic feet of gas was sent to power stations across the country during the period, resulting in an average power generating capacity of 2,957 megawatts of electricity from gas-fired power plants. 7.5 billion litres of petrol were supplied to the country by the NNPC and the PPMC in 2015.
