LUKOIL one of the largest oil and gasĀ  companies in the world is looking at making its mark in Nigeria. It is estimated that its stakes in Nigeria may produce about 6-7 million tons per year. LUKoil which has been working on expanding its overseas operations has several sites it is working on in West Africa, as well as most of Iraq’s Qurna-2 oilfield. It is also one of the major suppliers of petroleum products to the Nigerian market
LUKoil’s president made an announcement last year, of their decision to establish joint operations with Chevron in Nigeria. The US-based Chevron currently has operations at nine sites in Nigeria that based on production sharing agreements with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). Chevron Corporation owns 95 percent of the Nsiko oilfield, which it has been exploring throughout 2015.
LUKoil hopes to establish itself in the Nigerian market and has so far received many offers from private Nigerian companies.
