Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike was yesterday sighted at the Supreme Court during the meeting of Body of Benchers.
Though, Wike did not disclose the purpose of his presence at the meeting but a source told our correspondent that his presence may not have been unconnected with some statements credited to him during the thanksgiving service held in Port-Harcourt, the state capital where he was said to have spoken glowingly of the Justices of the Supreme Court, especially, the wife of the former governor of the state, Mary Odili, a Justice of the Supreme Court. Governor Wike came in company of some of his aides at about 10am and left at about 2pm. “Governor Wike is here with chairman and members of Body of Benchers. But we don’t know, if he is here to attend the meeting or was summoned in respect of his statement during his thanksgiving service in Port-Harcourt last weekend,” a source said. Dakuku Peterside, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Rivers State governorship election, accused Governor Wike of influencing the Supreme Court judgement that declared him (Wike) winner of the state’s gubernatorial elections.
