The 2016 budget defence by the Senate Committee on Education noted that it had uncovered about N10 Billion hidden in the budget of parastatals by the Federal Ministry of Education. This however is said to have been an typing error from the office of the National Planning and Budget. The chairman of Senate Committee on Higher Education, Senator Binta Masi Garba has said that the N10 billion was meant for the Universal basic Education Commission.
Binta Masi Garba said during the commissioning of Federal University, that the issue was not with the ministry of education and that it had been resolved by the house, adding that the senate would amended the 2016 budget. Garba went on to say that since the committee came on board, they had seen a lot of acts that needed to be amended to enable free flow on the quality of education in the country.
