On Sunday, the governors of the South East geo-political zone met in Enugu and agreed to pursue vigorously security and economic integration with a view to tackling the various security challenges facing the region as well as improving economic cooperation among the states. During the meeting, Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, was elected chairman of the South East Governor’s Forum

Addressing the journalists, Umahi said that the governors of the South East geo-political zone have resolved to work together for the interest of the people to support the leadership of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation under the leadership of former Minister of Information, Dr Nnia Nwodo. He therefor appealed to the people to give them similar support to enable them succeed and expressed satisfaction so far with the Nwodo-led Ohanaeze.

Umahi stressed that they all have agreed to work together in the areas of economy and security, particularly on the issue of kidnapping.

“We decided to have proper economic integration of the South East zone and in this regard we have instructed the economic commissioners of the various states to come out with a blueprint in that regard, “Umahi said.
