Emerging internet service provider, Smiles Communications has launched its 4G LTE broadband service in Abuja, the country’s capital, as it expands its services beyond Nigeria’ commercial capital Lagos. The local internet provider now has presence in three cities; Lagos, Abuja and Ibadan, a neighbour of Lagos.

“Abuja is a strategic location for the growth of the company and we have made sure the service is at its best in the city”, Tom Allen, Chief Operating Officer of Smile Group said during the Launch.

4G LTE is an advanced technological and communication standard that is designed to provide about 10 times the speed of 3G network for mobile and desktop devices.

Though Smile’s flagship launch was situated in Ibadan in 2013, following a three year period of extensive testing, its largest commercial returns have been recorded in Lagos, the country’s most profitable city and has encouraged further foray into key commercial areas such as Abuja.

Smile will be expecting a similar heightened patronage from potential Abuja customers to what it has experienced so far in Ibadan and Lagos. The launch is also certain to afford a chunk of locals fresh opportunities in the labour market.
