Russia has announced  plans to start exporting helicopters such as Mil Mi-8/17 and Mi-24/35 to Nigeria, Angola, Mali and Sudan between this year 2016 and 2017. However, a representative of Russia has stated that Russia wished to maintain exporting to these four countries.

“In 2016-2017, we plan to continue exporting these helicopters to Nigeria Angola, Mali and Sudan Our position in the African helicopter market is solid, so we are optimistic about the prospects of cultivating it further,” said the delegation for Russia’s arms exporter, Mr Yury Demchenko.

According to Russian’s delegate, helicopter continues to be the most sought-after types of military hardware in Africa. Therefore, Africa’s market is very promising for Russia and shows steady growth.
