For the third edition of Ake Arts and Book Festival, the Cultural Centre in Kuto, Abeokuta played host to renowned writers, artists, filmmakers and book enthusiasts from all over the world. This year’s theme – ‘Engaging the fringe,’ was focused on discussing the genre and creative endeavor, kicked off on November 17, 2015 and came to a close on Saturday the 21st.
The week long event celebrated contemporary African literature, art, film and theatre projected through book chats, panel discussions, film and documentary screenings.
For aspiring writers, a fiction writing workshop with Helon Habila, Taiye Selasi and Nnedi Okorafor taught them about improving on writing and editing–the key ingredients in preparing their works for publication.
In all, the event was a delight as writers and non- writers mingled, discussed, questioned and argued.
