South African minning magnate, Patrice Motsepe, has donated R1.2 million ($145, 000) to Russell Simmon’s Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation.

He made the donation at the Ninth AnnualĀ ART FOR LIFE East HamptonĀ fundraiser which raised a record $1.5 Million to provide arts education to underserved youths in New York City.

The charity event which was sponsored by major companies like Mercedes Benz and HSBC, was attended by Sean “Diddy” Combs, Aretha Franklin, New York Governor David Petterson, the South African billionaire, Patrice Motsepe, his wife, Dr. Precious Moloi-Motsepe and several eminent personalities.

Patrice Motsepe is the owner of African Rainbow Minerals, which has interests in gold, ferrous metals, base metals, and platinum. His estimated wealth of R22.99 billion ($3.28 billion) ranks him amongst the world’s richest men.
