DHL Global Forwarding has introduced its second direct Less-than-Container Load (LCL) service from Shanghai to Dubai, with benefits to the North Africa region.

The LCL service, operated by Danmar Lines, an  in-house carrier of DHL Global Forwarding, will not only connect China to the UAE, but will also extend to major cities in the Middle East such as Doha and Kuwait.

Speaking on the additional business expansion, CEO for DHL Global Forwarding, Middle East, North Africa and Turkey, Claudio Scandella said: “With the economic ties between the UAE and China continuing to expand and develop, our direct Shanghai to Dubai LCL service reflects DHL’s commitment to supporting and nurturing bilateral trade between these two growing markets and our continued focus on offering superior logistics solutions that enable our customers to get their goods to market as quickly as possible.”

The additional service also provides the chance for importers in Dubai, a world leading transshipment hub, the opportunity to choose from two sailings. This permits import to reach the Middle East within seventeen and nineteen days.

According to the Global Head, LCL Management, DHL Global Forwarding, Marc Meier, “The launch of the new trade lane allows us to expand our service offerings geographically and also ensure a smooth transition from freight collection to delivery by offering outstanding assembly and distribution networks at both origin and destination.”

He said that with strategically placed offices at the significant ports and industrial regions, customers will enjoy a tangible reduction in transit time as well as additional flexibility for last minute quality control and production.”

Country Manager for Danzas Dubai, Samer Kaissi, opines that “The new route is an excellent example of Dubai playing an increasingly important role in facilitating regional trade by offering greater cost efficient services to customers.”

DHL is a global market leader in the logistics industry with a global network in more than 220 countries and territories. The company is known  for its  IT solutions, such as DHL Track & Trace, insurance services and other tools as well as a robust in-house LCL offering that is built upon the concept of national and Multinational Gateways.
