On Monday, 14th November 2016, a leading pan-African technology news portal and advisory service, AppsAfrica.com announced ten winners of the AppsAfrica.com 2016 innovation awards. The award ceremony took place at a pan-African mobile and tech awards party in Cape Town, South Africa.
“We had diverse entries from 25 countries and both the finalists and winners are a testament to how technology is being used to disrupt business models, empower people and drive positive social impact across the continent,” said Andrew Fassnidge, founder of Appsafrica.com.
The 2016 awards attracted over 200 submissions from 25 countries, chosen by an independent panel of leading industry experts. Unfortunately the winners of the award hail from only five African countries with Nigeria and South Africa bagging the highest number of awards. Other winners of the night hail from Zambia, Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.

The awards party in Cape Town brought together over 300 mobile and tech leaders, media, investors and innovators from across Africa. The Awards was supported by Opera Software, the Mobi Hunter, Uber, Shule Direct, Mobile Monday South Africa and The Mobile Ecosystem Forum (MEF).
