On Tuesday 20th September 2016, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) placed a banned on the use of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 mobile phones on any airborne aircraft in Nigeria.

NCAA directed its passengers not to turn on or charge these devices on boarded aircraft due to its recently reported cases of overheating and outright explosion by users and therefore calls on all passengers and airline operators to adhered to this directive as safety and security of air transportation is very paramount.

Recently, on Monday 19th September 2016, the Consumers’ Protection Council advised that Nigerian consumers who had purchased the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 should, as an interim measure, stop using the phone while awaiting a vivid response from Samsung Electronics West Africa Limited in order to determine the number of affected consumers in Nigeria.
