MTN Nigeria has partnered with dobox, a Nigerian indigenous startup company to provide customers access the latest blockbusters, premieres and most exclusive movies on mobile devices.

According to a statement by MTN, the partnership is aimed at bringing the cinema closer to its consumers, through their mobile phones.

Customers will be able to access the feature by subscribing to the MTN dobox app to rent premium movies for a specific duration – without further use of data.

“This app leaves subscribers, who are lovers of premier and blockbuster movies, with no stress of going to the cinema to watch premier and blockbuster movies because once the app is downloaded, and registration is done, subscribers can rent movies with a token, without further use of data to access and watch movies,” MTN explained in a statement.

Speaking on the partnership, MTN Nigeria’s senior manager, Consumer marketing, Saidat M’hammed Lawal said the initiative was borne out of the desire to deliver top-of-the-range entertainment to MTN’s subscribers at unprecedented and unrivalled speed.

“This partnership with Do Media will provide customers a seamless user experience, through Dobox Internet Bundle (DIB). It will grant customers’ access to conveniently rent movies and trailers. Nigerian entertainment-seekers can now have access to movies of different languages, Hausa, Ibo, Yoruba and many more languages on the go, whenever and however they can.”

Nigerian movie producer and director, Charles Novia, said the product would go a long way to solve the distribution challenges that is confronting the industry.

“Now that technology has met with creativity, I believe Nigerian movies, will be taken to the next level. As one of the producers, who have his movie on MTN dobox, I must commend MTN for this initiative, now our films can reach everyone,” he said.
