Tomi Ahonen, the world’s most influential expert in mobile, according to Forbes, will be sharing his thought on the future of mobile at the Mobile West Africa 2014 conference, scheduled to hold this May in Lagos.

Mr Ahonen is also expected to deliver a dedicated full-day workshop titled “How to make money in mobile”, an official statement from the organizers noted.

The event which will hold from the 13th to 16th of next month, will also feature additional speakers Dr. Ernest Ndukwe, considered a key figure in pioneering mobile data revolution in Nigeria, as well as CEO & MD of Airtel Nigeria, the Founder of SPARK and iROKO Partners, and representatives from Nokia, DSTV Digital Media, Nigerian Breweries, PZ Cussons and Praekelt.

“When we first debuted Mobile West Africa way back in February 2011 it was a different era. West Africa’s smartphone penetration was low, Nigeria’s first incubation space (CcHUB) was yet to be launched, the eCommerce boom was still years away, and mobile money was far from reality,” said Matthew Dawes, Founder of Mobile West Africa.

“It has been a remarkable few years and I would hope that in some way the event has contributed to that growth.”
