On Tuesday, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) disclosed that the Italian government had deported about 37 Nigerians, shortly after it deported 33. According to NAN, they were deported for committing immigration-related offences in Italy.

The deportees arrived the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMlA) Lagos on Tuesday night.

NAN added that the deportees were all males, brought back in a chartered aircraft with registration number OM-IEX. The spokesman of the Lagos Airport Police Command, DSP Joseph Alabi, confirmed the development to NAN while they were received by officers of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and the Police.
