Fashion is an interesting online spot for every young lady interested in fashion and personal style.  I had an interesting chat with the founder, Stella, who gives a deeper insight into what inspired the platform, styling advice and opinion about African bloggers. Enjoy!

Tell us about yourself and your blog J’adore-Fashion

My name is Stella…some friends and family also call me Uzo, which is also my name. It is funny, but sometimes I refer to Stella & Uzo as two different people/personality. I refer to Stella as the businesswoman and Uzo as the fun and playful one.

In fact, I am a very shy person and because of that fashion and styling has been a means of expressing my thoughts, emotions and myself. My blog Jadore-Fashion was created as an avenue to express my love for fashion and style. Jadore-Fashion is a personal style blog that showcases my style evolvement.  It also gives you insight to trends, runaway analysis, and editorial and other inspiring styles and fashion around the world. It also takes you inside my personal life and activities.

What motivated/inspired you to start up your blog?

I have always wanted a way of sharing my love for styling and fashion; so after coming across several blogs, I decided to attempt it and it has been great so far.

What does style mean to you and how would you describe your personal fashion style?

Style to me comes from within. It is effortless, unique, and timeless. It does not abide to any rules and regulation. My style is edgy, classy, and fun—occasionally unapologetic.

You have inspired many through your wonderful and unique style; where do you get your inspiration from?

I get my inspiration from everywhere. Sometimes from editorials, street styles, paintings and decoration. I love interior decoration and architectures—they both inspire my style.

Who are your favorite designers?

Some of my favorite designers are Chanel, Stella McCartney, Alexander Wang, Marchesa, Chloe, Jewel by Lisa, Maki Oh, ,Deola Sagoe, Aqua by Aqua, Virgos Lounge, Zara. I also have seasonal favorites too.

What ‘uniqueness’ would you say you have contributed to the world of blogging?

Everyone brings something unique to blogging. For me, I bring a combination of style, culture, and personality. The ability to balance personal life, spirituality, and style is my contribution, which reflects in my blog.

Who are your 3 favorite African fashion bloggers and what do you love about them?

My favorite fashion bloggers in no particular order are StylebyQueens, ThirdWorldProfashional, For Style Sake, Snow Black. I love the diversity and different take in styling.  Also, I love risk to styling.

If you were to give someone fashion styling advice, what 3 things would you tell them?

1. Wear outfits that you are comfortable in and with confidence

2. Learn about your body and know what works best for you because something that works for someone else might not always work for you

3. Own a great pair of stilettos/pumps—it changes a basic outfit!

What has been your most fulfilling achievement as a fashion blogger and what are some of the future goals for J’adore-Fashion blog?

For me, getting approached by readers at different places and receiving emails from different people from all over the world about styling advice and letting me know how much I inspire them means a lot—that to me, is a great achievement. I don’t know what the future holds tomorrow; but I know with hard work, determination, and God’s favor, Jadore-Fashion is off to a great start. My goal is to continue to improve Jadore-Fashion beyond what it is today and to reach and inspire different audiences around the world. I am having fun doing what I love and I am grateful for the tremendous support.

Do you think African fashion bloggers are valued/well-recognized for their role in promoting African fashion? What do you suggest could be changed?

I do not think African bloggers are valued/well recognized for their role in promoting African fashion as much. I think the moment African designers start paying more attention to African fashion bloggers the more they can use it as a platform for expansion and creating more brand awareness. In my opinion, the African fashion industry should reach out to more fashion bloggers for collaborations.

Given the fact that the African Fashion Industry is gradually taking its giant spot on the global fashion map; what are your plans to venture in and be a part of this growth?

It is great to see African Fashion Industry’s recognitions around the world. My goal is to continue to improve my craft and expand my knowledge on fashion and the industry in general—learning never stops. Using this knowledge, I plan to continue to showcase my love for fashion whether through my blog or contributions to magazines. In addition, I hope to collaborate with some African Designers and magazines.

Who are some African fashion entrepreneurs you look up to and why?

I love Virgos Lounge and their successful rise in the fashion industry. They bring something unique and fun to the African industry and they do it humbly.

What advice do you have for upcoming fashion bloggers?

My advice to upcoming fashion bloggers is that they do it because they love it and not necessarily because everyone is doing it or what they could gain from it. Blogging can be demanding and challenging; therefore, blog because you love what you are blogging about. Also, be open to continuous learning about fashion. In all, have fun with blogging.
