Indorama Petrochemicals Ltd. is set to build Africa’s largest fertiliser plant in Eleme, Rivers state.

The management declared this on Friday that all plans have been concluded towards the setting up of the plant in rivers state. According to Managing Director of the company, Mr Manish Mundra, the project was part of the company’s effort towards making Nigeria the largest petrochemical location in Africa by the year 2017. He also said that a Chinese company, Toyo Engineering ltd, would handle the project and equally get its feed stock from natural gas.

During a visit by the National Good governance team to the company in continuation of its project tour in the state, the MD said that the plant would be designed to produce 1.4million tonnes of fertiliser annually, he said the plant would be involved in the production of Urea, NPK and other types of fertilisers if work is concluded as planned, hence that production would start by the fourth quarter of 2015

The Information minister, Mr Labaran Maku praised the company’s un-quantified performance, asserting that it had contributed greatly to the nation’s economy since its existence especially between  2007 and 2012.

Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals Limited (IEPL), a Group Company of Indorama Corporation, is a Poly-Olefins producer based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria.
