Two high end smart devices – the HUAWEI Honor Smartphone and the HUAWEI Media Pad tablet, have been launched into the Kenyan market by world leading information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, Huawei.

According to Mr Wind Li, CEO HuaweiKenya, the launch was prompted, giving the increasing consumption of mobile technology and technological advancement in Kenya.

Speaking at the launch, he said: “Kenya is now amongst the most technologically advanced African markets and we have seen an uptake in smart phone usage in the country. With HUAWEI Honor, we aim to increase the variety of choice Kenyans can make in the smart phone category based on the user experience that they want.”

The HUAWEI Honor is a proud smart phone offering with a 4.0 inch LCD touch screen, an Android 2.3 Gingerbread Operating System, fm radio, Java, MP3, MP4, GPRS, Wi-Fi, 2G network and 3G network support. The glossy black smart phone captures with a high definition 8MP camera and a 0.3MP front-facing camera to enjoy video chatting.

Fully integrated with instant email support, social networking applications – Facebook and Twitter, it comes with Android Play store web app that has over 400,000 apps available for download.

The mobile device enables more enjoyable use of its excellent features with better power management offering up to 650 hours standby time, 9 hours talk time, a power saving model that allows for 35% more power saving and 8 hours web surfing or up to 6 hours non-stop gaming.

With a dimension of 61.5mm in width, 122mm in length and 10.9mm in thickness, the HUAWEI Honor will go for Ksh31,999 ($381).

Hauwei entered the highly competitive Kenyan tablet market with the HUAWEI Media Pad tablet. The sleek 190mmx124mmx10.5mm device, weighing 390g, will cost Ksh34,999 ($417).

The Android 3.2 Honeycomb tablet promises users a good performance level with up to 6 plus hours of user time, 1.2 GHz dual core, High Speed Packet Access – plus (HSPA+), 8 Gigs of Memory onboard as well as a memory card slot upgradeable to 32 GB with a micro SD, an attractive 7 inch high definition LCD multi touch screen, 1.3 MP fixed focus camera and a rear-facing 5MP auto-focus HD camera.
