US-based Hess Corporation has made its seventh oil find offshore Ghana.

The NYSE-listed oil explorer announced today February 28, 2013 that it has completed drilling at the Pecan North-1 well on the Deepwater Tano/Cape Three Points (DWCTP) block offshore Ghana.

“The Pecan North-1 well, located approximately seven miles northeast of the Pecan-1 well, encountered approximately 40 feet of net oil pay in Turonian aged reservoir,” Hess said in a statement.

According to Hess, the wells were drilled in a range of water depths between 5,623 and 8,245 feet.

The company now plans to submit appraisal plans for the various discoveries to the Ghana government for approval on or before June 2, 2013.

Hess, which holds 90 percent working interest in the DWCTP, adds that it has begun pre-development studies on the block. The energy company is also the operator of the block.
