Gwoza attacks, Nigeria

At least five people were killed in the reclaimed town of Gwoza, Borno State on Tuesday last week. A suspected Boko Haram suicide bomber successfully launched an attack, killing returnees who were recently displaced.

Hurghada attack, Egypt

Two militants armed with a melee weapon and a signal flare, arrived by sea and stormed Bella Vista Hotel in the Red Sea city of Hurghada, stabbing three foreign tourists from Sweden and Austria. One of the assailants was shot dead and the other was wounded by security forces. Islamic state claimed responsibility.

The fire at Libyan oil ports

Five oil tanks were set ablaze at Libyan oil ports in a three-day attack orchestrated by the Islamic State. Nine guards were killed while over 40 were injured near neighbouring ports of Es Sider and Ras Lanuf.

Suicide bomb attack, Cameroon

Yesterday a suicide bomber killed 12 people and wounded at least one in an attack on a mosque in northern Cameroon. Attacked by a common enemy they are unable to defeat individually, Cameroon once teamed up with neighboring countries like Nigeria to end the group’s reign of terror.

Turkey bombing

A suspected member of the Islamic State (IS) group launched an attack in Turkey, killing 10 people. At least eight German tourists have died in the suicide bomb attack in the Turkish city of Istanbul.
