Ghana’s President John Dramani yesterday cut the sod to begin construction of a $10 billion ICT village dubbed the HOPE City.

The rLG powered project seen as the version of Silicon Valley, HOPE CITY will have six towers of different dimensions – one tower 270m height (75 storeys, the highest in Africa), two towers of 216m (60 storeys), and three towers of 152m height (42 storeys).

It will also have a university, shopping centres, offices, residential areas, game centres with bridges connecting all the towers in the city.

HOPE City is expected to provide work for 50,000 people and will host 25,000 inhabitants.

During the sod-cutting ceremony, President Mahama assures of his government support to the project which is expected to be completed within three years.

Mr Roland Agambire, CEO of rLG Communications indicated that his company has signed agreements with Microsoft and South Africa’s GUMA Group of Companies to provide the necessary support.

Microsoft’s Senior Vice President Ali Famamwy attended the sod-cutting ceremony.

Meanwhile multiple Grammy Award winning American singer Chris Brown will perform tonight at the Accra Sports Stadium to commemorate the HOPE City project.
