This was after the Ministry of Energy on April 2, 2013 announced it has officially taken over the completed Takoradi 132 MW Thermal Power Plant (T3)

The plant was constructed by the Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC) and has conducted successful performance tests on the plant.

The Energy Ministry in a statement said the signing of the Taking-Over Certificate was done by the Minister, Emmanuel Kofi Buah and Canadian High Commissioner Trudy Kernighan.
