Super Eagles of Nigeria captain and Fenerbahce new signing, Joseph Yobo has expressed his delight after signing a permanent deal for the Turkish club.

The former Everton player has played for Fenerbahce for the last two seasons after failing to get regular playing time at Merseyside.

The 31 year old has now signed a 3 year deal with the Turkish side which according to a club statement is worth 2 million euros ($2.5 million) a year. More so, Everton will pocket about 2.3 million euros ($2.8 million) for the former Marseille of France defender.

The Nigerian international has expressed his delight to see the protracted deal sealed as well as his gratitude to his former club.

Speaking to BBC Sport Yobo said: “I would love to thank Everton and the management of Fenerbahce for reaching a deal eventually, I know it took a while, dragged on a bit but the ends justify the means and I am a very happy man.

All I wanted was to come back to Istanbul with undoubtedly the biggest club in Turkey and glory be to God that dream has been achieved.”

Meanwhile in a related development, Yobo’s compatriot and Super Eagles midfielder Dickson Etuhu has thanked English Premier League side Fulham FC after he left the London club to sign for championship side Blackburn Rovers.

Etuhu signed a four year deal at Ewood Park for an undisclosed fee and took to twitter to express his gratitude to Fulham.

“Start of a new chapter at Blackburn Rovers FC. Thanks to everyone at Fulham FC, Players, Staff, Management and Fans for a great 4 years. Looking forward to a new challenge and helping BRFC back into the PL,” he said.

Etuhu was forced to leave Fulham after seeing his playing time reduced last season. He started just nine games in the 2011-12 season, none after February 4, and was a substitue for just 13 matches totaling just 26 percent of the overall league minutes.
