As part of its plan to provide LTE / 4G network in Egypt, Etisalat Egypt has partnered with Ericsson in a venture that will see the later provide it with its latest RBS 6000 radio base station technology.

The RBS 6000, a multi-standard base station, will help minimize Etisalat Egypt’s operational expenses and reduce environmental impact while giving allowance for the development of new, high-speed mobile broadband services and web applications.

Apart from this, the partnership will not only allow the Egyptian network provider transform its radio network to launch converged information and telecom services which will allow for energy-efficient and cost-effective operations; it will also help Etisalat Egypt meet the demands of its growing subscriber base with better and faster mobile internet connectivity and quality mobile coverage.

Speaking on the new deal, Etisalat Egypt CEO, Saeed ElHamly said, “Demand for voice and data services is constantly increasing. This is why we are always striving to cater to our subscribers’ needs by continuously upgrading our network and adopting the latest technology.”

Haitham AbdulRazzak, CTO, Etisalat Egypt added that, “Etisalat Misr keep its commitment in maintaining technology and broadband leadership and will continue investing in solutions and products that will enhance service experience for consumers and enterprises.”

On his part, President of Ericsson, North East Africa Unit, Ericsson Region Middle East, Işıl Yalcin, “We are committed to supporting them with our solutions, technologies and expertise to achieve this. It will also allow us, at Ericsson, to continue to progress in our quest to enable a truly networked society in Egypt and the region where everything that can benefit from connectivity will be connected.”
