On Sunday, December 17th, 2017, the third edition of Omilola Oshikoya’s Do It Afraid conference took place at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel with the theme, The Promise of a Rainbow. For three years, Oshikoya has organized the conference, convening successful entrepreneurs, would be entrepreneurs, and industry greats in one space to encourage and inspire individuals to pursue their goals and dreams in spite of fears,

As with every years’ theme, The Promise of a Rainbow bore a significant message; it was hinged on the promise of a rainbow after a heavy storm or rain thereby inferring that in spite of the current economic situation in the country which has left many hopeless, there is a rainbow, hope, at the end of it all.

“A rainbow is formed when a light is mixed with the rain in a storm. I know many have had a tough year, a tough couple of years or even a tough life. I know many are struggling in their businesses because of the tough economic climate. However, there is a promise of a rainbow in the storm”, Oshikoya said during the conference. “Every storm has a purpose. All you need to do is let ‘Light’ into your storm and the promised rainbow will appear. It is a promise that will not be broken. For me the Light is Jesus”, she added.

Some major highlights of the conference were the group recitation of the Do It Afraid pledge, and the delivery of the Vice President’s speech by Professor Jumoke Oduwole, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Industry, Trade and Investment.

Speakers at the event were Tiwa Savage, Singer and Song Writer; Mrs Ayo Megbope, Founder of No Left Overs; Oluchi Madubuike, Founder of Muna and Luchi; Kemi ‘Lala’ Akindoju, Award-winning Actor; Gbubemi Fregene (Chef Fregz) Celebrity Chef; Anthonia Yetunde Alabi (Sasha P), Creative Director of Eclectic by Sasha and Founder of Corn nation; Obanor Chukwuezam, Founder of Prepclassng and Chioma Omeruah (Chigul), Comedian.
